At Computex 2026 back in May, Acer was among the first OEM’s to announce a new handheld powered by Intel’s Arc G3 and G3 Extreme. Since then, the company has been mum about when it would actually be released, however, it’s actually available for purchase now. The Acer Predator Atlas 8 surprisingly appeared on Curry’s website with a retail price of £1,299 (~$1735).
The Acer Predator Atlas 8 is just the latest Intel Arc G3 Extreme handheld to be released. Options such as the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ and OneXPlayer 3 hit the market first, but it wasn’t until recently that you could even find MSI’s latest handheld in stock.
That’s left just OneXPlayer as really the only option for those who wanted to try out Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme chip. Intel’s move to the Panther Lake architecture for its handheld SoC’s has proven to be successful, so far, as it greatly outperforms its predecessor. Although, it can’t quite match up to the power offered by the Ryzen AI Max 395+, G3 Extreme handhelds also don’t carry price tags north of $2000.

Some have already been able to order the Atlas 8 from Curry’s, and at least one member of the Retro Handhelds Discord has already received theirs. It’s pretty awesome to see, especially considering that the list time Acer released a handheld, it never really saw the light of day.
Unfortunately, if you reside in the U.S. and want to pick one of these up, you’ll have a few hoops to jump through, as Curry’s doesn’t ship outside of the U.K. Instead, there are services such as MyUS that will handle the ordering and shipping for you, and it offers a 30-day free trial to get started.
Hopefully, it won’t be too much longer before the Atlas 8 makes its appearance here in the States, but I suspect we’ll be waiting for a little while.
