We didn’t expect Acer to be a part of the early headlines from Computex 2026, yet here we are, as the Acer Predator Atlas 8 has been officially announced. This is set to be one of the first handhelds to be powered by Intel’s new Panther Lake series of chips, with either the Intel Arc G3 or the Intel Arc G3 Extreme.
According to Acer, the Atlas 8 will come in at least two configurations, taking full advantage of Intel’s new x86 gaming handheld platform. The “base” model will be powered by the Arc G3, paired with Intel’s Arc B370 iGPU, along with a 60Wh battery. Meanwhile, the higher-end Atlas 8 is powered by the Arc G3 Extreme, making use of the Arc B390 iGPU, complete with an 80Wh battery.

Both versions are expected to be paired with 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and “up to 1TB” of NVMe storage, expandable via microSD. That said, these are using M.2 2280 NVMe slots, so you’ll always be able to upgrade in the future, provided that storage prices actually become reasonable again.
In terms of the handheld itself, we have the usual gamut of controls, except for the surprising omission of Hall Effect joysticks. Acer’s spec sheet just says that the Atlas 8 is using “full-size analog joysticks (Carbon Film), which is likely to be disappointing for some. On the bright side, the L2/R2 triggers are Hall Effect, and are even adjustable thanks to the physical switches on the back.

Like we’ve seen from other manufacturers, Acer is offering its own “launcher,” which is called “PredatorSense”. There’s also a dedicated button to open the app on the right side of the display, complete with Acer’s Predator branding logo. However, there’s also a dedicated “XBOX Game Bar Widget” button for those who would prefer to use that interface instead.
As for the display, the Atlas 8 sports an 8-inch IPS screen, with a 1920 x 1200 (16:10) resolution, and offers a variable refresh rate between 48Hz and 120Hz. Acer also says this is a “native landscape” panel, which is finally becoming more common in the x86 gaming handheld space.
Unsurprisingly, Acer stopped short of revealing how much the Predator Atlas 8 will cost, but there’s plenty of time to speculate. Although announced today, the Atlas 8 isn’t expected to actually be launched until sometime in October.
