Wouldn’t ya know it. The morning after the guys talk about the Anbernic RG477V leaks, a teaser video gets published to the Anbernic YouTube channel. And just like that, the company has one more handheld on its way before we flip the calendar into the next year.

In true Anbernic fashion, this initial teaser video doesn’t offer too much, besides providing confirmation that the device exists, and giving us a look at the design and colors. That being said, it appears that the RG477V will only come in either Retro Gray or Black, omitting the Indigo colorway that we saw with the RG476H. Beyond that, the RG477V looks like a refined and more premium version of last year’s RG406V, and honestly, this upcoming handheld looks really sleek.

On the front, we have the standard controls, along with the Start, Select, and Home buttons in the middle. On the right side, there’s a microSD card slot found below a Reset button, while the Power and Volume buttons are on the right. Lastly, the back of the handheld is home to the L1/R1 and L2/R2 buttons, in addition to a cutout for the fan.

Anbernic RG477V Specs (Expected)

Anbernic RG477V Promo - 2

Unfortunately, this is all that Anbernic’s latest video had to share, but thanks to a few leaks and the powers of deduction, we have a pretty good idea of how the specs will shake out:

  • Display: 4.7-inch, 1280 x 960, 120Hz
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 8300
  • RAM: 8GB/12GB
  • Storage: 128GB/256GB + microSD
  • Battery: 5,300mAh
  • OS: Android 14

If those specs look familiar, it’s because that’s exactly the same setup that we already have with the RG477M. We don’t expect Anbernic to make any changes to the internals when there are both vertical and horizontal handhelds sharing the same model number.

In any event, I suspect that the rest of the Anbernic RG477V details will be revealed over the course of the next week or so. Or maybe Anbernic could surprise everyone and just open pre-orders out of nowhere so you can have it in time for Christmas morning.
