“I got a plan. This is a good one,” Dutch Van Der Linde pitches the re-release of Red Dead Redemption for the third time in 5 years to RockstarÂ
This is a good one indeed, Dutch, because we now have a near-complete release of one of 2010’s most iconic and, dare I say, one of the most kinographic games of all time: Red Dead Redemption. RDR sees outlaw-turned-rancher-turned government-sanctioned-outlaw John Marston in an epic quest to save his family, set in the 19th century during the industrial revolution and the sunset of the lawless and cruel society of gangs and robbers in the American West.
You’re a Cowboy, you get guns, it’s made by Rockstar. You’re in for a good time, because we will soon be able to play this gem natively on your Android handheld of choice! (Hopefully) Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare DLC are being released on Android, iOS, Netflix, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2nd, 2025! So, less than a month to enjoy this adventure.
Another Re-Release?
Confused about this release? So was I at first, since you can already play Red Dead on the PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2 through backward compatibility, with the PlayStation and Xbox consoles offering a 4K and 60fps experience as-is. But the benefits of the new versions are pretty neat.
Android, iOS, Netflix

New to mobile, you can play Red Dead on the go from the comfort of your personal cell phone, or even your Android handheld of choice, like the newly released AYN Thor or Retroid Pocket G2. The Netflix version of this can be downloaded for free with a subscription (so not free).
Current Consoles

The PS5 and Xbox Series consoles will enjoy enhanced image quality and HDR, with the Switch 2 gaining 60fps, mouse support, and a higher resolution. Best part? Owners of the previous version (PS4, Xbox 360, Switch 1) will get this upgrade for FREE! And who said modern gaming in 2025 wasn’t affordable? (Me)
Special thanks to Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games for bringing these new versions to us! I think everyone should experience this game at least twice anyway.
