Team Retroid has released an update on the shipping timeline of the RP Additional Dual Screen accessory, acknowledging the complexity in manufacturing a second screen while maintaining a commitment to quality. The original goal was to ship all orders by August 5th. Instead, they’ll be moving to a staggered shipping schedule beginning on August 5th, with the intention of fulfilling all pre-orders by August 15th.

All told, it isn’t a huge delay. If anything, Retroid should be applauded for their transparency, as they’ve been more opaque in the past (sometimes literally). Retroid also shared that they will be launching Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates over the month of August to ensure compatibility with the new screen, as well as some generic usability updates for all new and existing RP5, RP Mini, Mini V2, and RP4 Pro hardware. This follows the footage they recently shared, showing 3DS emulation in action.

Retroid also stated that as a way to apologize for the delays, any customer who pre-ordered the dual screen will receive a coupon for $3. The coupon will be issued to the customer after the order has been confirmed as received, and will be valid for one year on any future orders through the companies official web store. “Due to the complex mold structure of the RP Additional Dual Screen and to ensure product reliability and quality, we have adjusted the original shipping schedule (previously set for August 5) as follows:

 

• August 5: Shipment of the first batch of reviewer/sample units (limited quantity).
• August 12: Shipment of the second batch of reviewer/sample units (sufficient quantity).
• August 15: Official shipments begin.

To further enhance user experience, we will also be rolling out OTA software updates throughout August for the RP5 / RP Mini / MiniV2 / RP4 Pro products. These updates will improve compatibility between the expansion screen and the devices, as well as other aspects of usability.

 

Additionally, as a gesture of apology, all customers who pre-ordered dual screen will receive a $3 coupon (valid for one year) after confirming receipt of their order. The coupon can be used toward any future products on our official website. Thank you for your understanding and support! Team Retroid”
