Retroid has been on a roll lately, and following what seems to be a successful launch of the Pocket Flip 2 and Pocket Classic, we can start focusing elsewhere. In the wee hours of the morning, the Retroid Pocket Mini V2 launched, as pre-orders are available now and will begin shipping on May 14.
According to the announcement on the Retroid Discord, there are “hundreds” of units available, but at the same time, stock is “limited.” The Pocket Mini V2 is priced at $199, but if you order within the first 72 hours, you can save $10 by using code V2SAVE10 at checkout.

Beyond that, it’s worth pointing out that shipping costs have increased due to the ongoing tariff war. As such, “standard” shipping will cost $25, and if you want to use DHL, it’ll set you back $55. Lastly, a post over at the Retroid subreddit seemingly confirmed that after May 15, Retroid will no longer be covering any tariffs for items shipped to affected countries.

Circling back a bit, we aren’t really sure what things will look like when the current stock runs dry. It could just be a few more weeks before the next batch arrives, or this could be a “one batch and done” scenario.
Nevertheless, the only difference between this and the original, besides availability, is the screen. Retroid has already shipped kits with replacement screens to those who purchased the original Pocket Mini and began implementing the new display for the V2.
Previously, the Pocket Mini featured what we believed was a 3.7-inch AMOLED display with a 1280 x 960 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. Shortly after launch, it was discovered that Retroid was using a 1240 x 1080 panel, with the shell being used to hide a portion of the actual display.
Retroid is rectifying those issues, as the Pocket Mini V2 now features a 1240 x 1080 AMOLED panel. This is the same screen that you’ll find in the Retroid Pocket Classic and the AYANEO Pocket DMG. And the best part is that you don’t have to do any of the hardware modding yourself, as you can just snag the Pocket Mini V2 and enjoy!
