Long known as a worldwide telecom giant, Huawei has teased entries into the gaming space, suggesting that it could enter the home consoles market in China back in 2021, along with gaming-focused laptops released under a subsidiary. Given the state of the hobby, it certainly makes sense for them to make their mark with a handheld device in 2025.

A new smelly design!
Details remain sparse at the time of publishing, but it appears as though the new mystery device will be offered in three SKUs with increasing storage sizes, ranging from roughly $180 to $350 USD.
The usual array of translated slogans is here: “Full-scene interactive entertainment | Independent Game System | New Olfactory Simulation Design (?!?).” Other than an amusing mistranslation about smelly designs,
Harmony OS is a proprietary Huawei operating system that was originally developed for the company’s line of smart TVs. The operating system is built on top of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and a Linux kernel, giving it the ability to run APK packages. A follow-up, HarmonyOS Next was built by Hauwei to only run in-house apps, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see a gaming OS with apps built from the ground up from the company.
