Taki Udon has announced prices and a release date for his upcoming OLED screen mod for the Nintendo Switch Lite.
The Switch Lite was originally released back in 2019 as a less feature-packed version of the Nintendo Switch. It was noted for its removable Joy Cons, smaller screen, and lack of dock support, which meant no HDMI out. With the OLED version of the Switch releasing in 2021, the Lite fell behind in another area with its 5.5-inch TFT panel.
SUPER5 for Switch Lite
Earlier this year, Taki announced plans to change that. Initially, the goal was to create an OLED panel option for the Switch Lite; putting it on par with its big brother, the OLED Switch, and other console revisions like the OLED SteamDeck.
SUPER5 OLED Pricing / Launch Date
The SUPER5 OLED kits will go on sale on September 26th at 10 am Hong Kong Time (GMT +8). We have promo coupons for the first two days while supplies last. An install guide for the base package will go up this week.

Now, the upgrade will be sold in different variations with slightly different features between them.
There will be a Standard upgrade kit, which includes the screen alongside the tools needed to do the installation. The Standard Touch kit includes the screen, but is modified to allow for touch controls akin to the stock Switch.
Upgrading from those, there are the SUPER5 HDMI kit options, one with touch and one without. The HDMI options allow for your Switch Lite to output 1080p via its USB-C port. This is a feature not seen on the Switch or Switch Lite. The Switch itself requires a dock or a cable specifically made to address how the Switch handles HDMI output.
And finally, a full Mega Kit option. This option will include a replacement third-party shell with a touchscreen, and HDMI-out supported OLED screen pre installed. This option will reportedly be the easiest of them all, as it only requires a motherboard swap from one Switch Lite to the included shell.
OLED Display Specs
All of the kits are reported as being capable of 600 nits of brightness, 150% sRGB, and a contrast ratio of 600,000:1. For comparison’s sake, the OLED Switch ranks lower than the SUPER5 OLED kit in all three areas. The OLED Switch is only capable of 340 nits of brightness, 130% of sRGB coverage, and a contrast ratio of 340,000:1.
With the Switch Lite’s lack of features compared to its peers, it remains one of the least sought-after versions of the Switch, but its portability and ease of use make it a top choice for those looking to remain handheld or play casually. With the once unavailable features now being added to the Switch Lite via this mod, it now packs a feature set close to what the OLED Switch offers.
Taki Udon is introducing something that many Switch Lite fans have been eager to see since its inception. With an OLED panel on such a small screen handheld, the colors will appear more saturated and vibrant, the blacks become deeper, and the picture will have more general contrast between different colors.
