The 8BitDo 64 controller has finally begun arriving on gamers’ doorsteps all around the world after many delays of the related Analogue 3D console.

8BitDo and Analogue are two peas in a pod when it comes to major console releases from the latter company. Analogue console releases happen every few years, but the lead-up to new ones is usually coupled with controllers made by 8BitDo. The Analogue 3D is one of the only cases where Analogue has released a console for which 8BitDo has yet to have a controller already available.

Analogue & 8BitDo: A Shared History

Analogue and 8BitDo share Christopher Taber between two executive positions. As the CEO of Analogue, he also holds the position of CMO at 8BitDo, adding more reason why the two companies live intertwined during major releases.

The Analogue 3D has been delayed many times since its original Q4 2024 launch date and is now expected to begin shipping in August 2025 after an update just earlier this month delaying the console one final month.

The 64 controller has found itself delayed alongside the console, but only via Amazon shipment updates to those who were fortunate enough to place an order before selling out. However, it’s believed that 8BitDo has had these controllers ready to go for a fair bit of time, but ultimately needed and wanted to keep the launch as close to the launch of the Analogue 3D as possible.

The 64 Controller Arrives

Gamers around the world are now receiving their controllers and sharing pictures across various social media platforms.

The controller looks just as it did when originally shown off. It still features the signature 8BitDo matte finish paired with glossy buttons, but with an N64 splash of design. The controller ultimately has a modern silhouette, but the buttons, along with their placement and sizing, all harken back to the classic N64 layout.

With Analogue and 8BitDo gearing up for the launch of one of the most anticipated FPGA console releases in the Analogue 3D, it’s a signal of hope that its needed accessories are finally starting to take form and be delivered to those who had preordered so many months ago.

Controller for Sale, Console Sold Out

The Analogue 3D has been sold out since shortly after its announcement. It has also been the subject of much fan-fare, partially due to a tweet highlighting the console being shared by LeBron James back in November 2024.

For those looking to buy the 8BitDo 64 Controller, it’s available for $39.99 in either black or white. If you’re already in the market for an Analogue 3D, you may want to grab the controller as the system on its own does not include any compatible controller.
