If you stop paying attention for just a minute, you’re likely to miss something in this space. Such is the case with the GameMT EX5, which broke cover in a teaser video posted to the Roybeila YouTube channel.
While we don’t yet know all of the specifics, the video does help us fill in some of the gaps. Not to mention, giving us a look at the design, which somehow tries to be both nostalgic and unique.
Starting off with the specs, Roybeila shares that the GameMT EX5 sports the MediaTek Helio G81, which is joined by the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. These are paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which we assume can be expanded beyond what’s built in.
It seems that GameMT is swinging for the fences a bit, as the EX5 is also expected to feature a 5-inch IPS display. That’s rather pedestrian for many handheld makers, but what’s surprising is that its said to be a 1920 x 1080 resolution, something we weren’t exactly expecting.
Based on the beginning of the video, we learn that the GameMT EX5 is running Android. Thanks to a message in the bottom left corner, it says that the EX5 can support cloud gaming, Android gaming, in addition to both ES-DE and Pegasus frontends.
Besides that, the EX5 has all of the controls you would expect to see on a handheld, with one major difference. The first of which is that this upcoming device includes just one thumbstick on the left. In lieu of adding a second thumbstick on the right, GameMT is putting a “Performance” switch of sorts.
There are three different performance modes to cycle through, which includes Performance, Balance, and “Pwrsave-Auto.” But instead of just baking this into the software (which it still might be), GameMT slapped what looks like a kitchen timer on the front.
It’s unclear when the GameMT EX5 will be officially released, however, the title of the video trailer simply says that it “will be released soon.” As soon as we learn more about this handheld, we’ll be sure to provide you with the latest information.
