SZDiiER has announced three new devices to join their product lineup, but under a different brand name, Diium.

SZDiiER is most notable for its D007, a line of RGB20S clones. Today, a massive shift in branding and production has been shown. The company will be using the Diium brand for these releases; the same brand as the one used for their D-R35 Plus. The three new handhelds are the D008, D-28S, and D50 Plus.

The D008 is seemingly in no way related to the D007 and simply follows the assumed naming pattern of the device. The D008 features a 3.5-inch screen with a resolution of 640 x 480. At the time of writing, its chipset is unknown but is said to have a similar performance as the R33S that was featured here earlier this year.

Before today, there was a patent leak for a D008 that featured a clamshell design similar to the RG35XXSP and PowKiddy V90, but apparently that model has been canceled.

The D-28S is similar to the D008 detailed above, albeit smaller. The D28-S houses a 2.8-inch screen with a resolution of 640 x 480, all powered by a RockChip RK3326.

While having the same chipset as the one found in devices like the RGB10Max 2 or the RG351 line of devices, gamers can expect similar performance; hitting its high-end with PS1 titles.

Diium D50 Plus

The D50 Plus is the most interesting of the bunch. Its design is heavily reminiscent of the Pimax Portal. Unlike the Portal, however, there is no indication that the controllers will be removable in a similar fashion to the Switch. The device design appears to just mimic the base design Pimax uses.

The D50 Plus will feature a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720. It will support both Android and Linux, both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and feature dual microSD card slots. Unfortunately, its chipset has not yet been announced but once it is, expect Retro Handhelds to make you fully aware.

Pricing and Future

The prices shown for the devices convert to about $60 for the D50 Plus, $28 for the D28-S, and $22 for the D008. These prices are currently only shown in Chinese yuan with no mention of how the prices will change once available to the international market.

The influx of budget devices creates more introductory options for people looking to get into the world of retro handhelds. With devices like the Miyoo Mini and RG35XX being mainstays for multiple years, having budget devices that can either rival them in performance or be just as obtainable makes the hobby overall more accessible to newcomers.
