Retroid has shared new images of its upcoming Dual Screen add-on via its official Discord server shortly before the accessory is expected to ship.
Over on the Retroid Discord, the company has posted real-world photos of the soon-to-be-released accessory. These new images differ from the previously shared renders in that they show the actual device mounted on matching colorway handhelds, providing a more realistic look at how the add-on will appear in use.
Retroid Steady Cookin’
Retroid has been steadily releasing new products and innovations in the retro handheld space over the past year. The Retroid Pocket 5 features a 1080p OLED screen powered by a Snapdragon processor, while the Retroid Pocket Mini V2 is one of the few horizontal handhelds perfectly suited for Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles, yet powerful enough to justify the inclusion of dual analog sticks.

Even the Retroid Pocket Classic and Flip 2 build on earlier concepts. The Classic is one of the most affordable options for GB and GBC-focused gaming, undercutting the significantly more expensive AYANEO Pocket DMG. The Flip 2, meanwhile, reuses the same screen and Snapdragon 865 specs found in the Pocket 5 but reintroduces the clamshell design from the original Flip 1 released in 2023.
Dual-Screen Is In
The upcoming Dual Screen add-on is designed to help emulate dual-screen handhelds like the Nintendo DS and 3DS, but it also opens the door for multitasking, such as playing a game on one screen while displaying a walkthrough video on the other.
Newly released real-life images of the Retroid Dual Screen add-on
This accessory continues a growing trend in retro handhelds toward dual-screen setups. Priced at just $69 and built with the Retroid Pocket 5 in mind, the add-on aims to bring features typically reserved for high-end devices to the mid-tier market. However, despite being primarily shown on the RP5, the add-on should work with any Android device with a 6 to 7-inch screen that is capable of DisplayPort out.

The company is assuming it works for other devices however the attachment looks like it barely works for their own devices. It covers fan holes, buttons and even ports on some devices. Why would you want to shift your screen off center to be able to use it? They also stole someone else’s idea and thought they were smart by creating this overnight. After seeing another one of their devices fail (Flip 2) recently, I give it a month before reports come in that this things breaks too. The company is an absolute joke and I don’t understand why people keep forking out money to this cheap and cheaply made Chinese company.
LMAO where do you think these products come from? The US? 😂 I for one welcome any Dual Screen device.
We see you, DNA mobile.
😂
Sorry, but it actually seems AWESOME and we’re all VERY excited for it. Retroid has its issues, but they’ve been addressing those honestly and surprisingly well.
Waiting anxiously for my amazing dual screen!!!
Bro LG made a 2nd screen attachment for the LG v50 phone in 2019 that turned a single screen device into a dual screen clamshell device.
So if your implying that somehow retroid stole a screen idea from dna mobile your totally wrong.
Adding a 2nd screen via usbc isnt a revolutionary idea, its not even something you can paitent.
The only thing thats being done thats not simply slapping a second screen onto a device is introducing a system to mount it and to be totally honest that system is not a million miles removed from taking a mobile phone controller mount and permanently fixing a screen to the end of it.
It is made for the Retroid Pocket 5 not the other Retroid devices. If it doesn’t work on other devices that isn’t the company’s fault, it wasn’t truly designed for it.
If it works on an RP4P or wherever that is just a happy bonus.
There were 2 models proposed, one for retroid devices, one “universal” (up to 6″ IIRC). So it could work for Odin 2 but not for Odin 2 Portal, we’ll see soon enough.
Because they propose something that doesn’t look like a cheap 3D printed prototype, for $69 and not $170 ?
Would like to see this working and also with a Odin 2 Portal. It doesn’t look to awful but still we haven’t seen it work.
yup already ordered mine, should work with my ayn odin 2.
TBH not having to pull out my cellphone to check the walk-through everytime I get stuck is reason enough to bruy this! And I love it when companies make accessories that really beef up a device I already own instead of having to buy a whole new device. Its a hell yeah from me!
Sorry Retroid, I’m saving my money for the Pocket DS!

This dual screen concept has been around since ASUS ROG phone 2. They are on ROG phone 9 currently. It stopped being supported after ROG phone 5. The screen was the same exact screen on the phone in terms of it’s responsiveness. It had it own battery and added shoulder buttons. It was touchscreen as well. I don’t know why they stopped supporting it. Probably due to low sales but it was ahead of its time.
Definitely not worth buying, already had a 2 hour run time lol..with the power plug used by this screen good luck getting any more that 45 minutes out of this.
