Hardware

Pokemon XD for GameCube on Anbernic RG34XXSP

  • Get a New RG34XXSP? It Might Not Be What You Thought: It was discovered this week that Anbernic is swapping the RAM in the RG34XXSP. One of its main original selling points was that it featured 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB, but that’s no longer the case.
  • Retroid Pocket 6 Shipping Delayed Due to Screen ‘Efficiency Limitations’: Excited for your Retroid Pocket 6 to arrive? Depending on when you bought one, you might have to wait a little bit longer as the company ran into some calibration issues with the screens, resulting in some slight delays.
  • TrimUI Brick Pro: Everything We Know So Far: The TrimUI Brick is an excellent retro handheld, becoming one of our default suggestions for new people in the space. And now, it seems that TrimUI wants to push things even further, with rumors and leaks pointing to a larger Brick, complete with joysticks.

Apps and Software

Don’t get me wrong, hardware is definitely fun and exciting to talk about. But what good is an awesome handheld if it doesn’t even work? That’s where software and custom firmware come into play, so here’s everything you might’ve missed this week.

  • BanjoRecomp PC Port ReleasedWhat a time to be alive. Not only are we getting excellent AAA titles like Clair Obscur, but the community continues to bring us remakes of classics. This time, we’ve got BanjoRecomp, a PC Port of Banjo-Kazooie.
  • Nintendo Wouldn’t Let Sonic Stand in Front: In a recent interview, former Sega dev Ryoichi Hasegawa dropped a very funny little bomb about Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Nintendo reportedly insisted that Mario always be one step ahead of Sonic in the promo artwork. Not figuratively ahead, but literally. Foot placement, pixel priority, the whole shebang.
  • Ubisoft has cancelled 6 games, including the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake: Speaking of getting excellent new games (and Recomps), it seems that the highly-anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been canceled.

On the YouTubes

Don’t think that the writers are the only ones getting things done. The RH video team is constantly working on new videos, and now’s the best time to subscribe.
