As the year has rolled on, we’ve seen the retro handheld space explode with a bunch of great options. However, Powkiddy has opted for a unique approach, releasing devices at what feels like a snail’s pace. It’s been a couple of months since the V10 was announced, and now it seems that the company is gearing up to release the Powkiddy RGB10X.
According to a YouTube Community post by NITTRX, the RGB10X “is coming soon,” bringing another horizontal handheld to the market. Much like the V10, the RGB10X is expected to be powered by the same RK3326 that just won’t seem to go away. This is said to be paired with 1GB of RAM and dual-microSD card slots supporting up to 256GB of storage.
Powkiddy RGB10X Specs
- Display: 3.5-inch IPS / 640×480
- Processor: RK3326
- RAM: 1GB
- Storage: microSD Card Up to 256GB
- Battery: 2,800mAh (Up to 8 Hours)
- Charging: 5V/2A
- Extras: 3.5mm Headphone Jack
According to a spec sheet shared on the RH Discord, the RGB10X is said to feature a 2,800mAh battery. This is expected to provide up to eight hours of gaming on a single charge, while the 5V/2A charging speeds mean that it’ll take two hours to go from 0-100%.
The RGB10X is expected to arrive in a few different colors, including transparent black, an SNES colorway, and maybe even the same yellow scheme as the V90. We can only hope that this is the case, but we’ll just have to wait and see what Powkiddy actually announces.
One of the saving graces of relying on the RK3326 for another handheld is that this should make the RGB10X rather affordable. For reference, the Powkiddy V10 costs just $40, making it one of the best budget handhelds out there. So unless there’s some yet unknown feature being included, we expect the RGB10X to be priced about the same.
