The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is now official and is the most expensive PC handheld on the market.

Lenovo announced its follow-up to the Legion Go early Friday during IFA 2025. Earlier in the week, we reported on a leak from Evan Blass that shared the bulk of its specs alongside some promotional images showing how its design differs from that of its predecessor and the offshoot Go S.

From Legion Go S to Go 2

Recently, the Go S has been making headlines for being a more powerful Steam Deck, albeit larger and bulkier. The sacrifices made in the console are the lack of an OLED screen compared to the Steam Deck OLED, a single smaller trackpad for desktop mode, and two back triggers compared to the four found on all models of the Steam Deck.

The Legion Go 2, however, is the main flagship of the brand and exemplifies the features found in the first one, and then some. The device has a 144Hz 1200p OLED screen, an optional AMD Z2 Extreme chip, 32GB of RAM, a larger trackpad, and a nearly 9-inch screen.

OLED panels, while somewhat common in retro handhelds these days, are still hard to source for PC handhelds and devices of their size. As it stands currently, only the Switch OLED and Steam Deck OLED take advantage of the deeper black panels, but Lenovo is truly pushing the envelope with its upcoming device.

While the handheld looks to be massive in comparison to other handhelds, it has a price to match. Aside from the aforementioned Z2 Extreme variant, Lenovo is releasing a cheaper standard Z2 option that retails at $1,099. You read that right: the cheapest model retails for over $1,000 USD. The Z2 Extreme version will retail for $1,349. While these prices are astronomical, the power-to-performance benefits gained from them are currently unmatched.

However, it does raise the question: if people are willing to drop $1K on a PC handheld, are we going to slowly see a shift toward people no longer having desktop PC setups? Will the niche be for those willing to drop a rent payment on a handheld that may match or surpass the performance of their PCs at home? As with all things handheld-related, the tides are always shifting, but Lenovo here seems to be staking its claim as the leader of the next generation of PC gaming.

Both the Z2 Extreme and Z2 versions of the Lenovo Legion Go 2 are available for preorder directly through Best Buy with an expected launch date of October 31, 2025. That being said, I would be surprised if these sold out; some people are still wiping their eyes to make sure they saw that price correctly.
