GPD has just launched a teaser trailer for the GPD Win 5, coming almost a month after images circulated that the company was testing a potential Win 4 successor. For the moment, the GPD is sharing very few details, but we can share what little information we have available.
What We Know:
CPU: The performance readout on the display shows that the GPD Win 5 will be using the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395. The AMD website indicates that this is a 16-core & 32 Thread 3GHz CPU, which can boost up to 5.1GHz.
Impressive GPU Performance: As reported by Droix, the Radeon 8060S, which is the iGPU contained in the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, has a 3D Mark Time Spy score that is greater than that of the GPD G1 external GPU. The G1 contained the 7600M XT, for reference. Some YouTubers are reporting that the 8060S is comparable to the laptop version of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, although this isn’t something RH has been able to verify.
Button Configuration: While the GPD video shows the device deliberately obfuscated by shadows, GPD’s official UK reseller, Droix, has shared an “enhanced image” showing more details. From this image, we can see that the Win 5 will have a joystick up top, with a slightly offset D-pad, and 7 extra buttons on the face in addition to the 4 standard face buttons. 2 of these will obviously be start and select, although it is not clear which.
Fingerprint Reader: Droix is also reporting that the blue circle on the left-hand side of the device is a fingerprint reader.
Reveal Date: The GPD video suggests that the device will be revealed at Chinajoy 2025, which starts on 1st August.
What We Can Reasonably Guess
Keyboard: Each model of the GPD Win contains a keyboard that is protected when not in use. Early models of the Win had the keyboard on the bottom half of a clamshell, but the Win 3 & 4 had the keyboard being the screen with a sliding mechanism in place. This is likely the case with the Win 5, since the screen is facing out when closed.
What We Don’t Know:
Price: We don’t yet know the price; however, given the top-tier components, we can expect this to be an expensive device.
Screen Size: Without references in the video, it is not currently possible to calculate the screen size. In addition, no information about the resolution has been provided.
Configurations: While the use of the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 has been confirmed, we don’t know whether every SKU will use this chip. In addition, we don’t know how much RAM and storage will be included.

The GPD Win needs to become lighter, 600 gramms for that size is too much. The Steamdeck is around 700 gramms but much wider. The PS Vita is under 300 gramms. I wish we could see the GPD Win 5 be under 400 gramms, but probably a pipe dream. Still, I am happy about it coming out!
