The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is rumored to be revealed this weekend during IFA 2025. Thanks to a popular leaker, more details about the device can be seen ahead of time.

Evan Blass, a well-known electronics leaker, has seemingly shared advance promotional images for the upcoming handheld a week before its expected debut at IFA 2025. The conference is set to host Lenovo on September 5, this Friday.

The Legion Must Go On

Lenovo recently released the Legion Go S, the first of its handhelds to officially run and be sold with SteamOS as an option. It differs from the main flagship Go model in both performance and design.

The original Go debuted in 2023 with an AMD Z1 Extreme processor, detachable TrueStrike controllers, and an 8.8-inch 1600p IPS display. The Go S trims some features to create a slimmer device with fixed controls, a 1200p IPS screen, and the AMD Z2 Go processor by default, though it can still be configured with the same Z1 Extreme internals.

The Legion Go S (Windows Edition) can still run SteamOS just fine.

The Legion Go 2 is said to improve on nearly every aspect of its predecessors. As the follow-up to one of the most powerful handhelds on the market, it carries a lot of promise. Based on the leaked images, it may deliver on many of the requests gamers had after using the first release.

Legion Go 2 The Extreme

The Go 2, as shown in the leak below, will sport a 144Hz OLED screen with a 1200p resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and full variable refresh rate support. Internally, it upgrades from the Z1 Extreme to the new Z2 Extreme. Configurations are expected to include up to 32 GB of RAM and at least a 1TB SSD. Lenovo has been gaining momentum in the handheld gaming space over the past few years. Devices like the ROG Ally X, MSI Claw 8 AI, and the Steam Deck have helped create a new class of powerful portable gaming PCs. For some, pairing these systems with software like EmuDeck creates the perfect retro machine, while others find this much power excessive for their needs.

If these leaks are accurate (and they seem very credible), Lenovo is clearly pushing the envelope once again. With an OLED screen and refreshed internals, the Legion Go 2 could be the device that finally dethrones my Steam Deck OLED. Although the final factor that will decide that is still unknown: price.
