Retroid has announced that the Kiwi, Teal, and Berry colorways of the Retroid Pocket Classic are slightly delayed, effectively canceling the launch of the three colors for US-based customers.

Ordering items from China to the US has become increasingly uncertain and unpredictable. With the launch of the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 and Classic, customers have faced a mix of excitement and anxiety. While orders for the Flip began shipping earlier this week, and the Classic started shipping yesterday, what initially seemed like a smooth rollout has now been clouded by growing concerns.
Quick Tariff Recap
Tensions around imposed tariffs between the US and China have escalated significantly in recent months. Currently, goods shipped from China to the US may face tariffs as high as 245%. In response, Hongkong Post has suspended all deliveries to US addresses.
This sharp increase in import costs creates a highly uncertain and risky environment for consumers and businesses ordering goods from China. For example, under a 245% tariff, a product valued at $100 USD could incur an additional $245 in fees, making its total cost more than triple the original price. In the case of the Retroid Pocket Classic, such fees could push its final cost higher than a bundled Retroid Pocket Flip 2 bundled with a Classic..
While the situation remains fluid, it effectively represents an ongoing trade war—one that is already forcing businesses to rethink their strategies, increasing prices, and, at least for now, halting shipments to the US entirely.
What Colors Now?
This leaves the DMG, Classic 6, Atomic Purple, and PKM Yellow as the only options available for US based customers. Customers in the US who had ordered the teal, berry, or kiwi should reach out to Retroid at sales@goretroid.com and either cancel or ask to change to one of the aforementioned available colorways as soon as possible.
The device officially started shipping yesterday, April 16. Those who had chosen to ship via DHL will more than likely make the cut-off before any changes are fully set in place. However, the flood of consistent and drastic changes made day by day could see things change for current and future orders.
Chris has also mentioned that they are working overtime in the factories and finding a way to ship even faster. With the change of colors, hopefully, US customers can get their pre-order quickly before any of these new regulations happen. The allure of cheap goods has mesmerized people to the point where they defend or disregard the oppressive conditions under which they are produced so that they can continue to get these things. China has risen from being a poor country in the 90s to a superpower by the 2010s. Diplomacy with them should include some strong arming to maintain our geopolitical standing. But I understand it’s alarming to see a president lead with strength.
So in this mental gymnastics effort, your king is a benevolent one bent on helping the poor people of China? Or is your next move one of judo in which he is going to have hard working rural Americans assemblimg retroids from an American company? I guess just throw yhe whole set of darts and the one that lands closest to a target that looks like a win, celebrate that.
DanVzare, I never called into question anyone’s intelligence. I was questioning the gentleman’s objectivity, however. I am allow to do that instead of trying to engage in a debate. I made a brief statement giving my take on how China’s wave of cheap goods has changed American consumerism; no response was needed. But he gave one, and for some reason, you felt you had to too.

Any opinion that references the president with this ineffectual name calling informs the reader that their TDS obstructs their ability to fairly assess an issue. I always cringe (and sometimes laugh) when I see people use those names when trying to make a point.
You gotta love someone who is so incapable of defending their position, that their only course of action is to call into question the intelligence of the person questioning their position by pointing out the language they used, rather than actually including any actual defense.
What you’ve done is essentially say:
“Oh no, I don’t know how to answer that. Wait, he called Donald Trump ‘your king’, I’ll make fun of that instead!”
Look. If you think the other person isn’t worth arguing with. Just ignore them. Getting the final say doesn’t mean you automatically win. It just makes you look petty.

If you’re main concern is getting cheap crap from China. You shouldn’t be voting at all. It’s a small price to pay when you contemplate the big picture.

If you did ACTUALLY contemplate the big picture, you wouldn’t be voting at all. You’d be out on the street demanding change.
I mean with the electoral college, your entire system is basically rigged, you all know it, and you all accept it. I mean at least the Russians throw a tantrum when their rigged elections come around, in order to show their displeasure. You lot happily take part in the charade.
You preach democracy, but you only have TWO choices. TWO is not a choice! Two is the number of choices that you give your boss to give him an illusion that he did something, so he’ll stay quiet.
You had a choice between a rich dishonest bastard, and a rich honest bastard. It’s no wonder Trump won. You lot wanted the honest one for once. Not realizing you didn’t really have a damn choice anyway, since they were both effectively the same, and neither have your interests in mind. They’d both gladly kill you for a buck!
So don’t preach about voting if you yourself have no idea what it means.
I doubt most of retro handhelds community considers Retroid gaming handhelds “cheap crap”. I consider them legitimately good products.
I never would have imagined that all it would take to make so many people willingly bend over while their country gets taken advantage of in a multitude of ways, as opposed to standing up like men/woman & saying enough is enough, while at the same time supporting the leader of your country who did just that. Never would have imagined video games would be the figurative line in the sand that once crossed would unleash the whining of so many obviously weak people, who frankly could care less about the long term and just want what they want when they want it & to hell with anything else. See, anyone who thinks with logic instead of feelings, can see the bad guy is Chinas leader and his stubborn behavior that’s willing to let his own countrymen lose their businesses and whatever else follows after that, so he can continue to take advantage of other countries and break law after law to avoid China having to pay its way like every other country does. Im proud of my country’s leader for the 1st time in a long time and for so many reasons. Unless you aren’t an american, you should be ashamed of your comments. Grow a spine and quit making it so easy for the rest of the world to laugh at you.
This is laughably ripe with vague claims and misinformation. In what ways is America being “taken advantage of” by China? From where I am sitting, working class Americans benefit quite a lot by being able to afford cheap goods made in China, while enjoying a higher quality of life afforded by workers’ rights laws in America as compared to China. As someone in a comment above pointed out, no one is going to be making Retroids in America- The higher minimum wage laws and more robust workers’ rights laws mean Retroid would have to sell their products for way more. The current situation is a win-win for Americans, and we aren’t being taken advantage of. Empty appeals to nationalism and masculinity can’t change the fact that most Americans don’t want things to get more expensive.
Again, remember to vote in November 2026 and 2028 for this chaos to stop and to make this hobby more affordable.
