It’s been a few months since the Retroid Pocket Mini was released, and since then, a lot of things have happened. However, missing in everything was the release of Android 13 for the Pocket Mini. Thankfully, the wait is finally over, as you can now download and install Android 13 on the Retroid Pocket Mini today!

When it was originally announced, Retroid was planning to ship both the Pocket 5 and Pocket Mini with Android 10. That stance didn’t last for long, as the community pushed back to the point that Retroid changed its plans. The problem was that this wasn’t something the company was expecting, meaning that it had to go back to square one in order to get a functional build of Android 13 working.

Part of the reason for this was to make sure that the Pocket Mini’s hardware would still be functional, without compromise, on Android 13. Something similar happened with the Retroid Pocket 5, however, after working with Qualcomm, the Pocket 5 shipped to customers with Android 13.

You might be wondering why having Android 13 over Android 10 would even matter. Well, it all comes down to performance, as the newer iteration is more stable, offers better security, less battery drain, and more.

Moving to 13 also solves any potential problems that you might have when trying to download apps from the Google Play Store. Many apps have dropped, or are dropping, support for Android 10, and it’s even to the point that there’s a special build of Yuzu floating around specifically for Android devices running older software.
