Update – 6/7: Gameplay Showcase and Specs

Anbernic is barreling towards the release of the RG Slide, as the company published a new “Games & Feature Showcase” video to its YouTube Channel. The video gives us an idea of what different games will look like, along with performance.

Although we don’t know more specifics, it’s probably safe to assume that we’ll be hearing more about the RG Slide in the coming days. It turns out that someone managed to get their hands on the Slide’s spec sheet, revealing everything else there is to know.

Update: Anbernic RG Slide Display Specs

Considering that we’re just coming off the release of the RG34XXSP and that the RG35XX Pro is around the corner, we weren’t sure how long the wait would be for the RG Slide. As luck would have it, we might not have much longer to wait at all, as Anbernic has released another teaser video.

This time, the company confirms that it’s running Android, meaning that many of us can breathe a sigh of relief that the Slide isn’t another H700 handheld. Anbernic also revealed some of the display specs for the RG Slide:

  • Screen Size: 4.7-inch
  • Type: LTPS Touchscreen
  • Resolution: 1280 x 960
  • Aspect Ratio: 4:3
  • Refresh Rate: 120Hz
  • Contrast: 1200:1
  • Peak Brightness: 500 nits

Along with that, we were greeted with some gameplay footage, along with getting our first look at the controls. It turns out that those “AI-generated” renders got pretty close.

For the better part of the last month, there’s been much speculation about whether the Anbernic RG Slide was real after a few renders and images appeared over on Baidu. After a few of the renders were confirmed to be AI-generated, we thought that would be the end of it. But the rumors have persisted, and for good reason, as Anbernic released a video today teasing the RG Slide.

The video is less than 20 seconds, and it shows an oblong device sitting on a table before it’s picked up by a woman at the table. Then, the camera pans out to show the woman sliding the top half upwards, to reveal the classic Anbernic nameplate.

Sadly, the video doesn’t reveal anything else about the Slide, so there are still more questions than answers. However, I did try taking a screenshot of when the Slide is on the table and adjusted the brightness/contrast levels.

Anbernic RG Slide Brightness Levels Adjusted

All this really did was reveal the camera that was pointed down at the screen for the shot. But it did show what appears to be speakers on the left and right sides of the display, giving us a relative idea of what the screen size could be. Without digging too deep of a rabbit hole, I’d probably venture to guess that the RG Slide will sport a 3.5-inch display.

Anbernic RG Slide Nameplate from Teaser

Anbernic is just coming off the release of the RG34XXSP, so I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising that we’re already getting another device. Considering that this teaser video is a bit different than the others, I have to wonder if the Slide is a bit further away from being released. All we can do now is wait and clean up the drool.
