Leave it to Anbernic to get us all hyped and then leave us hanging for a bit longer. In the wee hours of the morning, the first Anbernic RG477M showcase video was published, giving us a glimpse at what’s to come.

As soon as you start playing the video, you’re immediately greeted with something unexpected: the RG477M playing Hyrule Warriors for 3DS with a second display attached. It seems that Anbernic got the memo that the people want the option to add a second screen to their handhelds, especially with all of the updates being made to the melonDualDS fork.

After the brief appearance of the second screen, the showcase video continues with the RG477M being shown playing a variety of retro and Android games. This includes Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 running smoothly at a 3x resolution, along with Dead or Alive 2 for Dreamcast at a 5x resolution.

Surprisingly, Anbernic does give us a look at what both DS and 3DS games look like without the extra screen. I can only assume that the Hyrule Warriors footage was filmed after the rest of it, and then cut to the front of the line. It’s currently unknown whether Anbernic plans to pull a Retroid and release a detachable display for its handhelds.

In true Anbernic fashion, the video doesn’t reveal all of the specs, instead only confirming the following:

  • 5G Wi-Fi Streaming
  • Bluetooth 5.3
  • 1080p Video Out via the USB-C port
  • Multiplayer Netplay

That being said, it’s pretty safe to assume that the Anbernic RG477M features the same internals as the RG557, paired with the RG Slide’s display.

According to some in the RH Discord, those hoping for an RG477V will be disappointed. The RG477M is said to be “specifically targeting the KTR1S, because KTR1S is also a metal-bodied handheld with a 7300 chip, selling for 1799 yuan.”

It’s probably safe to assume that Max Zhou has some beef with KT Pocket, as we’re likely looking at another RG Cube vs. ZPG A1 Unicorn situation. Nevertheless, we can’t wait to get our hands on the RG477M, so stay tuned and we’ll share more information once it’s available.
