We’ve been hearing rumblings about Anbernic potentially releasing a new metal handheld for the better part of the past two months. The wait for a proper RG405M successor is over, as the Anbernic RG477M is now available from either Anbernic directly or AliExpress.
If you want to get a better idea of what the RG477M has to offer, Zu recently published his first look, while Stubbs, Rob, and myself had a bunch of fun during a RG477M livestream.

Should You Buy One?
While I’d love to sit here and tell you whether you should pick up the RG477M for yourself, the truth is that I haven’t spent any time with it yet. That should change in the next few days once Stubb’s Chocolate Bronze review unit arrives.
What I will say is that based on how the RG477M held up during the livestream, it’s very tempting. Rob even managed to pull a rabbit out of his hat and gave us a look at some PS3 gameplay, which is just wild.
This happens to be the first time that I’ve hesitate about picking up an Anbernic price just based on the cost. The RG477M is the most expensive Android handheld to-date thanks to the upgraded power and metal shell.
But we’re also seeing Anbernic release two RAM/Storage configurations, something that hasn’t been done since the WIN600. So when you look at the sum of everything, we’re looking at either $239.99 (8GB/128GB) or $289.99 (12GB/256GB). However, for the first 72 hours, Anbernic is offering a $20 discount on both models, so you’ll definitely want to jump in on that if the RG477M has piqued your interest.
The best part of the RG477M launch is that there aren’t any pre-orders to deal with. Instead, you can just head over to Anbernic or AliExpress and buy one now.
