Welp. A day after the RG406H was shown off in a few leaked images, Anbernic has confirmed that this will be its next handheld. In true Anbernic fashion, we’re in line for an information drip, starting off with a “Fun Games/Extended Features Demonstration” video.
As is usually the case, this gives us a look at the different color options that will be available, along with performance in various titles. In this video, we see everything from Android games found on the Play Store to emulated games from various consoles.
The only tidbits of information that Anbernic has provided in terms of specs is that the RG406H will feature a 4.6-inch touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 960 x 720. Unsurprisingly, that’s the same size and resolution as the screen found on the RG406V, matching up with what we expected Anbernic to do.
Besides the screen, it also appears that Anbernic will be relying on the same joysticks from the RG406V, which should make more than a few people happy. However, it also borrows the round D-pad from the RG Cube and RG CubeXX, which is something that I’m happy to see.
Lastly, the Anbernic RG406H is shown off in three different colors, with there being White, Black, and Transparent Purple. Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on the Transparent Purple as it simply looks incredible, even in the video.
With all of the hype surrounding the Retroid Pocket 5 and Pocket Mini, it’s interesting and exciting to see Anbernic join the fray with a horizontal Android handheld of its own. Now, we just have to wait for the rest of the specs and information to drop, along with being able to actually order one.
We’ll be sure to update this post once more information is made available.
