Fresh off of managing to go 12/12 with new handheld releases, Anbernic is back again to kick off the new year. No, we don’t have something revolutionary, but instead, you can now get the Anbernic RG34XX in a “Glacier” colorway.
At this point, I’m convinced that Anbernic managed to get its hands on the original manufacturing equipment because this looks almost identical to the original Glacier Game Boy Advance. I had the same feeling about Indigo, with the only exceptions being the shoulder buttons and the two extra gamepad buttons.
This comes as a bit of a surprise, considering that Anbernic didn’t release new colors for the RG35XX SP until a few months after the initial launch. However, it hasn’t even been a full month since the RG34XX was released, and we already have a new color.
There could be a good reason for this, seeing as Anbernic did make a few tweaks to the internals when it released the refreshed RG35XX SP. I can’t imagine any major changes were made to the RG34XX, but we’ll have to try and get our hands on one and tear it down before coming to a final conclusion.
It’s an interesting time to randomly release a new color, as the Glacier RG34XX came out of left field just before CES 2025 is set to kick off. Not that we’re expecting Anbernic to be at the event, but we are expecting quite a bit of gaming and retro handheld news over the course of the next week.
Nevertheless, if you’re interested in picking up the Glacier RG34XX for yourself, it’s already available over at AliExpress. Just hit the button below, and make sure to check out Dills of the Week where there are a few coupon codes that might be able to save you a few bucks.
Let us know what you think about what Anbernic is doing and whether you’d prefer if we could just have all of the color options at launch.
