It looks like we’re truly in the drip feeding stage when it comes to information regarding the Mangmi Air Y and accompanying Y Pro. On July 10th we were originally announced to these two new devices. One or two sticks on a vertical, and what looked to be a pretty big display. All in all we saw it show up, and as a whole it looked pretty comfortable. Five days later on July 15th they told us what the screen was, and showed us the back of the device. A 4.2″, 1280×960 resolution panel, similar to the Ayaneo Pocket Air Mini, and a backside reminiscent of the Ayaneo DMG, we had more of a good idea of what to expect. Now two days later? We get the CPU’s for both. And we really shouldn’t be surprised.
Starting with the Mangmi Air Y, you’re looking at the Snapdragon 662 which is the exact same chip we saw on the Mangmi Air X last year. With that you expect to push up to PSP, Dreamcast, and the like with minimal if any Gamecube depending on your level of tinkering. Because of that we can expect the price to be similar to that of the Air X, if not hopefully slightly lower. Though my speculation lends towards about $100 overall. If you’re looking around this performance range you likely don’t need the second stick unless you’re an Ape Escape fanatic. But if you do, they also have a step up in the form of the Air Y Pro.

Which if you’re going off of previous guesses, this one is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 865; the same chip we saw in the Mangmi Pocket Max. Once again, that does give us a good idea on pricing, but I certainly hope the dual stick IPS vertical is going to come in cheaper than the massive 7″ OLED handheld with control modules. If you’re looking for proper PS2, Gamecube, and even some Switch and x86 emulation this would be the model to go for.
At this point, there’s only a few items left on the agenda that we’re looking to get from Mangmi. Ram, Storage, Price, and Shipping times are the four on my list that I want to know about the most. A lot of companies are competent on battery sizes these days, so for many that shouldn’t be the biggest concern anymore. My only hope is that they aren’t drip feeding this information too; we don’t need an update to tell us a handheld has 4 or 8gb of ram in 4 days. But for now, we can only wait and see.
