Mangmi got everyone’s attention in 2025 for better or for worse. They kicked off their year with the announcement of the Mangmi Air X, a Snapdragon powered, budget handheld. And although it faced a number of delays along the way, we eventually got it in hand and it turned out to be an incredibly good handheld for the price. This was followed up just a few months later with the Mangmi Pocket Max, a huge OLED handheld powered by everyone’s favorite; the Snapdragon 865. While it was a great handheld it faced competition from AYN who decided to lower the price of the Odin 2 Portal to nearly match it. But now, it’s 2026 and Mangmi is back with not one, but two handhelds on their plate.

Now there isn’t a lot to say as so far this is our only information about the Mangmi Air Y series, but there is quite a bit to take in and infer from just this single announcement. The first thing is that, right off the bat we know Qualcomm is powering yet another one of their handhelds. That’s great for compatibility sake in things like Gamenative, but it could mean a number of different things as Qualcomm makes a lot of chips.

The next thing to note is the presence of both an Air Y and an Air Y Pro. The assumption being the standard model will only have the single analog stick similar to the RG 40XXV, while the Pro will feature the pair of sticks similar to the TrimUI Brick Pro U. We do still have to wonder though. Is this going to be budget like the Air X? Is this going to be more powerful? Closer to the 865 from the Pocket Max?

Regardless, we do know that right now, this is pretty much another nail in the coffin towards the recently announced TrimUI Brick Pro and Pro U line of handhelds. Unless you want something metal, there’s a high likelihood you’re looking at a really good value for the money options with a sizable display on a vertical Android handheld. And I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m really looking forwards to this one. Oh; and I really appreciate the Horizontal being called the X with the Vertical being the Y. If you know graphs you get it.
