Since their respective releases, the TrimUI Brick and Brick Hammer have become fan favorites for many. But what if we told you there was another iteration on the way, not only bringing with it a larger screen, but also dual joysticks? Well, it would appear that’s exactly what we’ll be getting with the TrimUI Brick Pro.
We’ve heard rumblings about another TrimUI handheld being in the works now that the Smart Pro S is available. However, I don’t really think we expected TrimUI to offer another iteration on the vertical form factor.
Nevertheless, thanks to a series of posts and leaks, it sure seems that’s what we’re getting. There are a couple of key differences between the Brick/Hammer and the Brick Pro. First, it’s said to use a 4-inch display, offering a substantial jump from the 3.2-inch Brick/Hammer.
There are some who might like the Brick/Hammer, but prefer joystick controls for more modern titles. Ask, and you shall receive, as the TrimUI Brick Pro sports dual joysticks, complete with RGB, and likely being just a couple of Switch sticks tossed in there.

What we didn’t expect was for TrimUI to move away from its Linux-based firmware builds. At least according to one video from the r/TrimUI Subreddit, the Brick Pro will feature Android instead.
The video is only about a minute long, and starts off by revealing a bare-bones Android home screen. Then, the app drawer is opened, and NetherSX2 of all emulators is selected. That’s right, it appears as though the TrimUI Brick Pro will be powerful enough to play at least some PS2 titles.
Because of that alone, we have to assume that TrimUI will ditch the Allwinner A133 Plus from the Brick/Hammer. What we don’t know is obviously the processor that TrimUI is relying upon instead.
It seems that details are trickling out daily, so we’ll be sure to let you know more information as soon as we have something to share.
