Dolphin’s Android build has been updated with beta support for RetroAchievements, allowing cheevos hunters to earn badges and track progress on Android-based devices like the Retroid Pocket G2 or AYN Thor. The team announced that interested users will be able to login to their RetroAchievements accounts beginning with Version 2509-503 and start earning points for supported GameCube games. Sometime around March, the Dolphin team plans to add support for Wii and WiiWare as well.

The current temporary limitation for this feature is the lack of an in-app achievement list. This means that if you score an achievement and it triggers, you will see the notification pop up; however, you cannot view all of the achievements for the game you are currently playing anywhere inside of the Dolphin interface. An achievement UI is in active development and will be released in a later update.

To get started with this new feature, simply download the most recent Development Build (Version 2509-503 or higher) directly from their website, or join Dolphin’s beta program through the Google Play Store. Depending on your region, it could take several hours for the Play Store update to roll out.

If you encounter any issues, the developers ask you to report them on the Dolphin Discord server or in the announcement’s forum thread. Your assistance in testing this feature now will allow the Dolphin Team to provide a smooth, polished launch when RetroAchievements is included in the next stable release of Dolphin. In the meantime, I have some imaginary Tony Hawk awards to win.
