When a new handheld gets announced and information is immediately revealed piece by piece, that’s usually a pretty good sign. And that’s exactly what’s been happening with the AYN Thor, as it was announced yesterday morning and following last night’s display information drop, we now know a few more key details.
AYN surprised us all again this morning, as it released another teaser graphic, this time revealing the processor, battery size, dimensions, and weight. It seems that there will be two variants of Thor, coming with either the Snapdragon 865, or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Obviously, we aren’t strangers to either one of these chips, with the Snapdragon 865 being the same one found in the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, Pocket 5, and Pocket Mini. And of course, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has serve as the base for the excellent AYN Odin 2 lineup, most recently being found in the AYN Odin 2 Portal.
What’s strange about this decision is that AYN decided to introduce a new product line with Thor, instead of naming its clamshell something like the Odin 2 DS. Perhaps this is because the Snapdragon 865 is being added to the mix, or maybe it’s a sign that we could see future iterations of Thor with updated specs. Only time will tell.
AYN Thor: What Else We Know So Far
The overall picture is starting to come into focus, as there are only a few key details that remain unknown following this morning’s teaser. So with that, here’s what we know about the AYN Thor, so far:
- Top Display: 6-inch OLED, FHD Resolution, 120Hz Refresh Rate
- Bottom Display: 3.92-inch OLED, 60Hz Refresh Rate
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | Snapdragon 865
- Battery: 6,000mAh
- Dimensions: 150 x 94 x 25.6mm
- Weight: 380g
I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to get my hands on this one, and hopefully, that’ll be possible sooner rather than later. We’ll be sure to follow up with any other information about Thor, and of course, the Odin 3, once it’s made available.

I’m glad we’re getting two OLEDs instead of one (Pocket DS).
