MagicX has been a leading force in what some may call transparency, but what some others may call a string of bad luck. Today, the company is positioned to change that with a string of announcements made exclusively over in our Discord.

MagicX had a turbulent 2024, to say the least. In August, GammaOS developer Gamma had been working on the XU Mini M when he found that the advertised RK3562 was actually the often-seen low-powered RK3326. Later, MagicX would state that they believed their supplier had intentionally tricked them, going so far as to muddy the markings on the chip and conceal the information from them.

But despite this, the company still went forward to work on future handhelds and other products, like the yet-to-be-officially revealed Touch Zero 40, and the recently launched successor to the Mini M, the Zero 28.

Now there are updates about the company’s plans for 2025.

MagicX Looks to the Future…

Over on our Discord, Sean from MagicX shared an update on the Touch One 35. It seems as though the device is nearing completion, and shell color may be the last step with community input driving the eventual decision.

This go-round, MagicX is working more closely with their new production and manufacturing partner, MediaTek, to address any problems that may have arisen during the testing phases.

And in true MagicX fashion, they are already working on another handheld, the Mini One 34.

…and Beyond

But the fun doesn’t just stop there — they also shared some purposefully vague news about their plans for the current year.

In the screenshot, we can only deduce a few things, but we can also speculate what we may end up seeing.

The Two’s processor seems to be a MediaTek Dimensity 1X00, where the X is a placeholder for either 1 or 2 — the Dimensity 1100 or 1200. If I were a betting man, my money would be on the D1100 as we’ve seen it perform fairly well in devices like the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro.

The next entry is where it gets interesting. The Dimensity 8100, 8200, and 8300 have such a large variance in performance that the 8300 would extremely easily outdo anything the 8100 would be able to. The Dimensity 8400 takes it to a different class, and truthfully, we should temper our expectations if we hope to see that chip in any retro handheld any time soon.

The next two entries appear to be their consoles modeled after the SP and DS. 2024 was ripe with new handhelds mirroring the design of the SP like the RG35XX SP and the Miyoo Flip, but we still have yet to see a device that can actually mimic the playstyle and design of the DS. But, MagicX has also been the only company to show us that it’s possible.

The final two mentions, a Mini Three39 and a DH Three55 seem to be updated versions of the consoles we covered here late last year when MagicX announced changes and overall naming pattern improvements. The same information can be assumed then as now with the information given, but the excitement for more OLED consoles, more innovative and edge-case handhelds, and a time where they’re all aiming to be somewhat affordable — we are truly living in a potential golden age.
