The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is one of my favorite devices I’ve gotten recently. I love the form factor, screen, and performance for the cost. Personally, I want to keep this one for a while! (I say this all the time until that new shiny thing comes, but I’m tired of setting up devices, okay?!). Why not get some accessories to make the Flip 2 even better?
microSD Card
It is hard to enjoy these devices if you are a game hoarder like me. The internal storage is only 128GB; we need more than that! We all have our preference for cards, but I wanted to recommend a brand that Ban let me know about. I was a strictly SanDisk person for all of my devices, but I was curious about the cheaper options. When asked, Ban recommended the Silicon Power Superior.
Once I got this, I have been only buying them as they have been reliable and usually on sale. I don’t notice any issues with speed or writing, and they have not died on me yet! Of course, you can always get what brand you enjoy. I just wanted to give you a recommendation of the ones that I have been using, especially if you are looking for frequent deals!
A Grip for Better Comfort
I first saw the JC Studios grip in Zu’s video review, and I was interested, but I don’t need a grip. It’s fine as is. Well, so I thought. After playing StarTropics for GotM, though, I realize my hands are getting more cramped than I realized. I saw a few people talking about the grip in our Discord, so I thought I would give it a try.
The grip comes in different options, but I got the more bulbous one with felt on it. So what makes this so great? I enjoy that it snaps right in with the holes already in the back of the device. It arrived super fast and was even 10% off with the link Zu had, and I will add it down below too. I really enjoy it and it feels great, especially when playing D-pad-centric games.
Dock For The Big Screen
Since getting the Switch 2, I realize how much I love docking a device to the TV when it is free from children’s music or trash reality shows (that’s actually me, don’t blame the wife hashtag 90DayFiance). I didn’t want to have something bulky to take up more space in my living room.
After doing some searching, I found this small dock from BIYTC. It was everything I wanted: cheap, small, and as a bonus, it was a cool color. It connects and works just like a USB-C dock I have used. I connect both my Flip and Steam Deck to it and then shove it in a basket under the TV when not in use.
Controller, Obviously
If I were going to be docking this thing, I obviously needed a controller too. I am a big fan of 8BitDo for a cheap and quality controller. I know there are different options, but my favorite is its Ultimate 2C. It has extra remappable buttons near the triggers, but you can also defer to the older model that does not have those.
The controller feels great in hand, battery lasts a while, it is a lovely shade of purple, and it connects easily with the USB adapter that plugs right into the dock. You still have to remap the controls for a controller whenever you connect it for certain emulators (Dolphin, DuckStation, etc.). If there is a way to not have to do that, though, I am all ears!
Extra Protection
The final accessory that I use is a case. How taboo for a pocketable device, but if I am not carrying it with me at the time, I don’t just want it to be out and about where a toddler can throw it. That is a real thing in my house. Luckily, I already own this case, and it works great!
I am a big fan of BUBM cases already, but this one fits both my N3DSXL on the top and my Flip 2 on the bottom. There are also slots for my 3DS games, SD cards, chargers, or whatever you want to put in them. The best part, though? It fits in the case with the grip!
Conclusion
Hopefully, you found an accessory you like or want to use. If you use something else you would love to get the word out on, let me know in the comments! The Flip 2 is a great device, and we can only make it better together by sharing our favorite accessories!

This feels like an article for the sake of an article. Almost clickbait-y.
Glad to see an options specific to the device like the grip.
Sd card, hdmi adapter, controller are pretty generic choices.
Why not talk about your gamecube jewel instead?? Thats what I’m curious about.
